Want to know what it’s like to stay at the Beach Quarters Resort in Virginia Beach?
I’m going to be completely honest here and tell you our first impression of Virginia Beach was not great.
It was like taking the dirtiest parts of Las Vegas and putting them all here in one place, with no “nice” places to balance out the trash places.
Over time we found some redeeming qualities about Virginia Beach, but we don’t exactly love it.
But if you find yourself in Virginia Beach, Beach Quarters Resort is a decent option for a hotel room right on the ocean for a reasonable price.

Beach Quarters Resort Review
Beach Quarters Resort is a Hilton Vacation Club timeshare resort on the south end of Virginia Beach.
You don’t have to be a timeshare owner to stay here though!
It’s definitely an older resort that’s been worn down a bit, but the rooms are still good.
When we booked our room through our timeshare, it was just listed as a “one bedroom oceanfront”, but there are actually a couple different types.
There’s a regular suite and a deluxe suite.
Ours was actually the deluxe suite.

One Bedroom Oceanfront
These rooms are set up a bit funky, where it’s really just a standard hotel room with a door added into a walkway to make it a “one bedroom”.
You enter the room directly into the bedroom, so the bedroom doesn’t really have privacy if you have other people staying with you.
From what I can tell, the regular one bedroom oceanfront rooms are not set up this way.
Those rooms have 1 queen bed that is on the ocean view side of the room and a pull out couch in the living room.
Bedroom
Our room had 2 beds that seemed like they were full sized beds.
We were able to sleep in one just fine though.
There’s a chair, a tv, and a closet with extra bedding and towels.
There’s a door that you can close for bedroom privacy from the rest of the unit other than the main entry door.
Bathroom
Just past the bedroom is a very small bathroom.
The bathroom vanity is on the outside, so multiple people can get ready at the same time.
Just the toilet and shower are in the actual bathroom.
The water pressure was decent in the shower, but still not great.
The room had shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel attached to the wall of the shower.
It’s not my favorite kind to use, but it’s also not the worst I’ve ever had at a hotel.
All the Hilton timeshare resorts use the same stuff.
Kitchen
If you continue down the hallway past the bathroom there is a mini kitchen.
The fridge and freezer are nearly full-sized.
There’s a sink, microwave, small dishwasher, and a small stove top.
A coffee maker is also available, but you can request other items from the front desk if you’re missing anything you might need.
There’s plates, cups, and utensils for every day use too.
Living Room
The kitchen area faces out into the living room.
The living room has a pull out couch, so it can sleep 1-2 more people, but remember that for them to get in and out of the unit they’d have to go through the bedroom.
There is a small-ish tv in the living and a dining table that seats two people.
Since this room is an oceanfront room, there are floor to ceiling windows looking out over the ocean.
Balcony
The balcony is pretty small, but there are 2 chairs and a side table out there so you can enjoy the view.
Our room was a corner room so we could also see the rooftop pool from our balcony.

Resort Amenities
We didn’t get to explore too much of the resort, but we got some pictures of some of the most popular amenities, including the indoor pool and hot tub and the rooftop pool.
Indoor Pool and Hot Tub
There is an indoor pool and hot tub (and a kiddie pool) just off from the lobby.
It has a view of the beach as well.
There are regular pool chairs and tables and chairs in there.
They have normal pool hours.

Rooftop Pool
Up on the 7th floor there is a rooftop pool, but it doesn’t have a hot tub.
You can see in the photo below that there is a hightop bar going across the back of the pool area and that is what looks out over the ocean.
There are a couple tables and chairs underneath an awning so you can be in the shade if you want.
We went up to the pool during the weekly members and owners mixer and got free Jimmy John’s sandwiches and drinks for lunch.

Overall Experience
Overall, I’d say the experience here was average.
Part of the issue is just Virginia Beach itself is just run down and dirty.
But the resort is definitely on the older and smaller side.
There are also fighter jets that fly over 100 times a day and they are very loud, so if you’re outside at all, you’ll hear it nonstop.
And we live near an Air Force Base, so we’re used to planes all the time, but the ones we have are cargo planes so they are not nearly as loud.
Honestly the rooms are barely a step up from a regular hotel room, but they’re fine for what they are.
If I was coming to Virginia Beach again, I’d stay here again because at least I’d know exactly what I’m getting and it’s fairly cheap most of the time.

Pricing
One thing to consider for room pricing is that parking is free in the garage that is attached to the resort, so I’m sure that cost savings is built into the room price.
Most nights, the rooms range from the $200-$300 range, but I’ve seen it as high as about $450 before on peak travel weekends.
I personally wouldn’t pay more than $150 per night for these rooms unless I really needed to be here for some reason and it was the best option I could find.
Using Timeshare Points For Your Stay
We bought a timeshare with Diamond Resorts back in 2020 and they have since been purchased by Hilton Grand Vacations.
They’ve become their own type of timeshare now called Hilton Vacation Club.
We used our timeshare points to book this stay since we’re still trying to use up old points.
Our stay at Beach Quarters Resort was 1050 points for 2 weeknights in mid-May in a 1 bedroom oceanfront room.
When we consider how much we’ve paid for the timeshare, this room really cost us $549 for the total stay or $275 per night.
If I factor in freebies we’ve gotten from our timeshare along the way, then really our stay was $415 for the total stay or $208 per night.
Both of these amounts are much more than we normally spend for our stays, but we’ve had so many stays that are well below budget, that this one balanced those out and didn’t really feel like we wasted points.
It’s just definitely not worth that many points for a resort like this in this area.

Conclusion: Beach Quarters Resort Review
So overall, we don’t love Virginia Beach, but if you’re staying here, this is a good option on the south end of Virginia Beach.
It’s definitely over priced for what it is, but you get free parking, you’re on the beach, and there’s a rooftop pool.
You also have the bonus of having a kitchen in the room so you can make your own meals and save money.
Ocean Beach Club is another Hilton Vacation Club resort in Virginia Beach on the north end.
