Looking for an honest review of the Ocean Beach Club in Virginia Beach?
Ocean Beach Club is a Hilton Vacation Club timeshare resort on the north end of Virginia Beach.
It’s one of Hilton’s better properties in the area, so it also costs a bit more.
We loved that this resort is centrally located to so many good restaurants and activities.
They even have their own tiki bar out by the pool.
Plus, parking in the garage across the street is free for guests!
Ocean Beach Club Review
We stayed at Ocean Beach Club on a Friday and Saturday night in mid-May.
So it was in-between the busier weekends of Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.
It was busy in the area, but not over-crowded, which was a pleasant surprise.
We were also able to check in to our room a few hours early since we were in the area.
One thing I noticed about this resort and others we stayed at in the area is that room keys are used to access just about every area of the resort.
Even to use the elevator you need your room key.
This is great for security, but since these aren’t luxury resorts, it also makes you wonder how bad the crime is in the area.

Studio Oceanfront
During our stay we were in a studio oceanfront room.
We figured if we were already splurging on our timeshare points to stay on a weekend, we might as well use a few extra to see the ocean from our bed.
It was a good consolation for only have a studio room instead of a one bedroom.
Bedroom
We stayed at another Hilton timeshare resort in Virginia Beach earlier in the week that was also an oceanfront room, but it was the living room that was on the ocean side, not the bedroom.
So we were very happy that with the studio set up, you pretty much have to have the bed overlooking the ocean.
There was also a small dining table for 2, which was convenient for working in the room and just having extra space to set things down.
The bed was a queen sized bed by the way.
None of the rooms of this type have king sized beds.
Bathroom
The bathroom was decent sized, but nothing special.
The shower pressure was the best we’ve had in a long time at the Hilton timeshare resorts, but still not great.
Maybe a 6-7 out of 10.
There is virtually no counter space in the bathroom, so that made it hard for 2 people to get ready.
Also the bathroom door opens up right at the sink, so you kind of have to have the bathroom door closed or hold it open with your body to get ready at the sink.
This shower also had a decent sized bath tub.
Kitchen
The kitchen in this room was a mini kitchen.
There was a mini fridge and microwave, but also a small sink.
It was stocked with a handful of cups, plates, and utensils, which was convenient for when we brought leftovers back with us.
We put waters in the freezer section of the mini fridge, but they didn’t freeze.
They didn’t even get little ice crystals or anything.
Oceanview
Our room was only on the 3rd floor, so part of our ocean view was also a pool view.
This was mostly fine, but sometimes you get screaming kids and you can hear them even with the door closed.
When you’re laying in bed, the balcony actually makes it look like you’re on a cruise ship in a cabin with an outside balcony.
We were here in mid-May and the sun would be up around 6:15 am – like bright and directly in the room.
It made it feel like we were sleeping in and got a full night’s rest, so it actually gave us so much more time to enjoy the amenities because we were wide awake.
You can close the blinds if you like, but I enjoyed being woken up by the sunrise.
In our apartment we only have West facing windows, so we get no light in the morning.
This is something I’m definitely going to keep in mind in the future because now I want a bedroom with an east facing window!

Overall Experience
Overall, this is a much better resort than Hilton has on the south end of Virginia Beach which is Beach Quarters Resort.
We spent an afternoon at the pool and the water was nice and warm.
Because the building is so tall though, the entire pool area becomes shaded by about 2 pm or 3 pm – so for some this is good, for others not so much.
We ended up just going out to the beach once the pool was completely covered by shade.
Some shade was good though because I was able to write an entire blog post for one of my other blogs out at the pool without my laptop over heating.
If I come back to Virginia Beach, I would definitely stay at this resort again and not the other one.

Pricing
In the off-season (October) I’ve seen these rooms as low as $175 per night.
In the middle of June though, even on a weeknight, these rooms can be $500 for just one night.
I personally wouldn’t pay more than $250 max for this room.
Yes it’s right on the beach, yes the room has an oceanview, and yes parking is included.
But, it’s not a luxury resort by any means, the bed is only a queen bed, and it’s Virginia Beach, not Miami.

Using Timeshare Points For Your Stay
We bought a timeshare through Diamond Resorts back in 2020 and then were quickly bought by Hilton soon after.
So now we have timeshare points that are good at all the same resorts, that are now referred to as the Hilton Vacation Club, which is not the same as Hilton Grand Vacations.
This stay was a splurge for us that we normally would never do.
For starters, it was a Friday and Saturday night which is ridiculously over priced when using timeshare points.
We almost never stay on those nights because it’s never worth the points.
But we stayed here as part of a larger trip to use up last year’s timeshare points before they expired and this was the only resort in the entire country that had availability for these nights.
Since we saved so much on our other stays during this road trip, we could justify spending a little extra for this room since it all balanced out in the end.
So here’s the real numbers:
We used 1800 points to stay 2 nights in mid-May on a Friday and Saturday night in a studio oceanfront room.
With what we paid for the timeshare (including annual dues), this comes out to $941.12 for 2 nights or $470.56 per night.
As a comparison, we also stayed 2 nights in Williamsburg in a 2 bedroom on weeknights and it was 400 points or $209 for the entire stay.
So you see how we could justify this splurge since the other one was so cheap?
But here’s another number we look at – our timeshare gives away so many extra points and gift cards, that we also calculate the cost after deducting all the freebies we’ve gotten.
In that case, this stay cost us $713.05 for the total stay or $356.52 per night.
During this same time, the cash rate was $506 for the night!
Conclusion: Ocean Beach Club Review
Ocean Beach Club is definitely one of the better resorts Hilton has in Virginia Beach.
If you’re looking for a place to just enjoy the pool and the beach, then this is great.
The free parking is a great perk as well.
I would say the rooms are pretty average, but overall we had a good experience at this resort.
